Dr. Rose Barrowcliffe
Butchulla-Wonamutta researcher and artist based on Gubbi Gubbi Country-the Sunshine Coast- of Queensland, Australia.
My work and research is about understanding how Indigenous peoples are represented in archives. I am an academic at Macquarie University in Sydney and an advisor the Queensland State Archives.
My creative interests include printmaking and weaving. I was taught to weave and print by Elders in my family. My print and weaving work combines modern and traditional materials and methods to capture elements of the natural environment. My favourite subject is native flora which is often both the subject and material of my artwork.
